On February 1st and 2nd, 2008, Sustainable Fairfax held it’s second Volunteer Corps training.
This two day course included a Sustainability 101 course taught by Sustainable Fairfax staff and Andres Edwards, Author of the book Sustainability Revolution, team building exercises and work on the Sustainable Fairfax Community Plan.
The participants were trained they were asked to staff the Sustainability Center and were encouraged to join committees or the board to educate the community on how to live a more sustainable lifestyle and be active in your community. Each volunteer is staffing a four hour shift per month at the Center on Fridays or Saturdays.

Sustainable Fairfax opened the doors to its Sustainability Center to the public on Saturday, October 6, 2007. The center is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10-6 providing the Fairfax community, bay area residents and business owners, and visitors with a Sustainable Resource Center, a retail space for local and green products, and ongoing Community Education classes.
