"Green Wednesdays" are in full swingthis year at the Fairfax Farmer's Market!
Come by and visit our Sustainable Fairfax table during the month of August and join us in these fun, family friendly projects.
Wednesday, August 20th and 27th:
The Lorax signs are coming back to remind us all that kids are going back to school and that drivers need to slow down and make way for them to bike and walk safely. Wear your painting clothes and we will once again "speak for the trees" and make signs to decorate our town and celebrate alternative modes of people moving!
We will have our table of resources, our Green Tips of the week and craft projects to encourage and teach the value and necessity of reducing our waste and converting all of our packaging to reusable bags and containers.
Fairfax was a pilot market last year for going plastic free. San Rafael's Civic Center Market celebrated Earth Day with 2 plastic free days and a very successful 'BYOB' (bring your own bag) campaign. As we all personally and as a community, move toward zero waste, Fairfax continues to be a place where the community embraces bold steps and acts to inspire change at home and afar.
The "Green Wednesdays" crew is looking for people to volunteer at the Sustainable Fairfax table and for people to bring ideas and lead crafts which are kid and earth friendly.
We also need some dedicated problem solvers who will help with creating and implementing the steps we must take to make our market and town plastic free.
