Cost: $80 for two day workshop which includes materials.
Join natural builder, Miguel Elliott of Living Earth Structures and Sustainable Fairfax, as we construct an earthen wood-fired oven for baking pizzas, veggies and breads. On day one, we will cover making the foundation, insulating the floor, building the oven, and making the door opening. Day two, we will insulate the oven, sculpt it into a fun design, and learn about plastering techniques. A simple bamboo roof will be constructed over the oven.

Miguel discovered natural building growing up in Petaluma and being inspired by General Vallejo's adobe structure there. Since then he has traveled the world learning and teaching about natural building. Some of his projects include building an organic nightclub out of cob in Chicago, a school in Argentina and locally, he is the sculptor of Lydia's Kitchen, and the dome behind the Crystal Chalice.
