SALMON SPAWNING

Naturalist Led Creek Walk

Sustainable Fairfax and SPAWN’s watershed naturalists enjoyed the rains of winter by greeting the coho salmon who were spawning in their colorful mating rituals. We were delighted to spot the salmon digging nests, fighting for dominance, and the ultimate...dropping their eggs into carefully-prepared indentations in the gravel. We also learned about local stream ecosystems and what you can do to help protect endangered salmon.
